Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, Barkuhi

Our Lady of Lourd, BadkuzhiBarkuhi was the first British coal mines town in Asia. Barkuhi is a small town in the Tahasil of Parasia, District Chhindwara. Distance from Bhopal is 250km. The Barkuhi parish has been entrusted to CMI care on 30th April, 2006 by the Archdiocese of Nagpur. The church in Barkuhi had a humble beginning in 1963 with only four families and few Italian nuns of the Charity Sisters of Bambania which had come here to run the WCL central hospital. The Holy Angel’s Convent Chapel was used also for Sunday and feast day public masses, till 1994 until the new church of Our Lady of Lourdes was built. Rev. Frs. Fernandez, Vincent, Daniel, Thomas, Jesuraj, and James Thomas of Nagpur archdiocese had served the Barkuhi parish and used to stay in the hospital campus. The first CMI priest of Bakuhi parish was Fr. Antony Kurian Chiramel (2003 August to 2008 July) and he stayed in the small presbytery adjacent to the church. The present parish priest is Fr. Shepherd Thelepally, who took charge from Fr. Anto Kanjirathingal, his predecessor.

 

 

Vinayalaya, Sagar

vinayalaya, SagarThe first batch of CMI scholastics for Sagar mission came here in 1976 for their studies in Sagar University. They stayed in Carmel Ashram until they shifted to Jyothi Bhavan in 1978. They started staying in a rented house at Christian Colony in 1983 and their residence was called Vinayalaya. As the new house for the CMI scholastics was ready at New Christian Colony, they shifted to it in September 1987. This new house, which retained the name Vinayalaya was officially blessed and inaugurated on 3rd January 1988. On July 19th 1994, the aspirants house from Narsinghpur was shifted to Vinayalaya and the college going scholastics were moved to other centres. At present Vinayalaya is used as the pastoral centre of the province.

Christ the King Parish has got eighty families in which 80% catholics are from Chhattisgarh and 20% are from Kerala. Majority are working as got. employees like teachers, some are in hospitals and few are in human resource development depts.  The people are very active as well as so foreword in contributing to the church and very sensitive to help the the poor especially our parish members. All the five Rev. Fathers of the Christ Home are ready to render  their valuable service to the church any moment. The Reverend sisters of Elizabeth of Vandana Convent and the D.D.P. Sisters of DDP convent of Christ Campus are trying their level best for the wellbeing of the parish.

 1)       Inauguration of the CHAVARA YEAR  2014 – August – 2015.

 2)     Prison Ministry Sunday celebrated with special prayers and offerings.

 3)     Thirteen Children received Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation by Rt.Rev. Dr. Antony Chirayath, the bishop of Sagar Diocese, in the month of October 2014.

 4)     The feast of Christ the King, the patron of the Parish was celebrated on 30th of November 2014, inviting all the Priests and the Religious and the clergy of the nearby parishes.

 5)     Painting Competition for the Catechism Students.

 6)     Seminar for the Catechism students.

 7)     Christmas Cribe Competition.

 8)     Christmas Carol before Christmas.
